Las Cruces Public Schools invites the LCPS community to experience the excitement of the 2026 Tell the Story Film Showcase, a two-night celebration of student filmmaking that promises creativity and imagination. The theme this year is “Superheroes.”
The annual film showcase shines a spotlight on the incredible storytelling talents of students from elementary through high school. In each division, students are given specific creative challenges, including required lines and props, all within a limited timeframe. The result is a collection of innovative, entertaining, and often surprising films that highlight both teamwork and artistic vision.
The 2026 Tell the Story Film Showcase will be at Cineport 10 Allen Theatres, 700 S. Telshor Blvd., on Wednesday, April 29 & Thursday, April 30. The red-carpet walk will begin at 5:00 p.m. Screenings for student films will follow throughout the evening at 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m., offering audiences a front-row seat to a wide range of original student productions.
Non-competitive student films will be shown on night one, while the second night will feature films submitted for the student competition.
The competition includes three fast-paced and creative divisions:
• 168-Hour Film Competition (Elementary School)
• 98-Hour Film Competition (Middle School)
• 48-Hour Film Competition (High School)
The 2026 Tell the Story LCPS Film Showcase is proudly sponsored by Allen Theatres and the LCPS Foundation. For additional details, including a full schedule of screenings, please refer to the attached invitation and program.

The event will take place tonight, April 24, at 6:00 PM at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, located at 4100 Dripping Springs Road.
This special evening celebrates the incredible educators and staff who make a difference every day. It will honor LCPS Employees of the Year and recognize individuals who have earned National Board Certification, highlighting excellence across the district.
Let’s come together to recognize dedication, passion, and the impact of education in Las Cruces.

This honor truly belongs to our students and music educators. Our students bring curiosity, dedication, and joy to every rehearsal and performance, while our teachers create the opportunities, guidance, and inspiration that make those moments possible.
We’re thankful to be part of a community that values and supports music education and overjoyed to celebrate the people who make it meaningful every day.

At Las Cruces Public Schools, we are proud to lead with purpose by embracing green practices and building a more sustainable future for our students and community. From reducing waste and expanding recycling efforts to investing in energy-efficient cooling systems that keep our schools comfortable during the warmer months, sustainability is at the heart of what we do.
Through our partnership with the city’s conservation department, we are also taking meaningful steps to conserve water and minimize waste, strengthening our commitment to responsible environmental stewardship.
Together, we are creating a greener, more sustainable tomorrow, one small step at a time. Join us on our journey to reduce waste, save energy, and care for the Earth we all share.

Today, the Career and Technical Education team at Las Cruces Public Schools partnered with New Mexico State University to host the Elevate New Mexico: Career & Energy Expo, bringing opportunity, exploration, and inspiration together in one place.
More than 1,500 students from across Southern New Mexico spent the day on the NMSU campus exploring hands-on career pathways in energy, engineering, healthcare, law enforcement, agriculture, media, and more.
Students also experienced college life firsthand, touring campus, sitting in on classes, and getting a real glimpse of their future.
Through interactive workshops, pathway tours, and a large-scale equipment expo, students connected directly with industry professionals and local businesses, gaining valuable insight into the many career opportunities available right here in New Mexico.
A huge thank you to our incredible partners, sponsors, community organizations, and LCPS staff who made today possible and who continue helping students see what’s ahead.

Last Saturday, these student-athletes gave back to the Village of Doña Ana by collecting an incredible 560 pounds of trash along El Camino Real Road. Their dedication to service, teamwork, and community pride truly represents the spirit of LCPS.
We also thank the Doña Ana County Government Center for recognizing their efforts and supporting community cleanups across our region.
Interested in making a difference in your neighborhood? Call 575-525-6106 to get free supplies and coordinate your own community cleanup!

In 1981, the Mayfield High School Trojan Marching Band stood at the top of the region. Under the direction of Ross Ramsey, these student musicians earned back-to-back Rocky Mountain States Championships, a testament to their discipline, pride, and unmistakable sound.
From the stands to the field, this group carried the spirit of Mayfield with excellence and unity.
That tradition of performance and pride still echoes today in every note played.
This is Las Cruces Public Schools, then and now.

These young leaders are making their voices heard and helping shape the future. They’ll serve as a vital bridge between youth and County Commissioners, bringing ideas forward and reporting back to help build a stronger community.
We’re grateful for our partnership with Doña Ana County and excited to see their impact!
