During a Las Cruces Public Schools Board of Education meeting, Dr. Aine García-Post was recognized by her colleagues and board members for the meaningful work she has done for the district—truly impacting students and their families in a positive way.
Here is what Dr. Roberto Lozano, Chief of Educational Equity and Support Programs, had to say:
I have the honor of presenting a very special recognition to an exceptional leader, colleague, and advocate for students—Dr. García-Post.
Dr. García-Post was recently selected as the New Mexico Association for Bilingual Education’s 2025 Administrator of the Year—a statewide recognition that honors administrators who ensure Bilingual Education programs are not only operational but thriving. The name of the award recipient will also be submitted to the Coalition of New Mexico School Administrators for their distinguished award. This recognition can go to school- or district-level leaders, and in this case, there is truly no one more deserving.
Dr. García-Post has been an educator since 2004 and part of the Las Cruces Public Schools family since 2010. She has served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and currently serves as the Executive Director of Bilingual Education, Translation & Interpretation, and Community Outreach.
She leads with focus, integrity, and heart. Her passion for students—especially our emergent bilingual students—is unmatched. Under her leadership, LCPS has made major strides in expanding dual language programming, aligning our practices to the State Seal of Bilingualism and Biliteracy, and significantly increasing the number of students receiving the seal. She also led the development of a clear PreK–12 dual language pathway—a model now gaining statewide attention.
Dr. García-Post’s commitment to doing what is right for students is evident in every project she takes on. She is a tireless advocate, a brilliant thought partner, and someone I’ve had the great privilege to work alongside. I have nothing but admiration for her leadership, her work ethic, and the legacy she continues to build here in Las Cruces.
While she will continue to serve in her current role through June 30, we do want to share that Dr. García-Post will be moving back home to California after this school year. Her presence will be deeply missed, but the impact she has had on our district—and across New Mexico—is lasting and powerful.
Please join me in celebrating and honoring Dr. Aine García-Post, the 2025 New Mexico Association for Bilingual Education’s Administrator of the Year.
