Great readers become great thinkers, and great teachers help make both possible! At Mayfield High School, Jacquelin Jimerson is helping to turn the page on student literacy, for students and teachers.
Jacquelin Jimerson is the English Department Chair at Mayfield High School and a dedicated educator and instructional leader committed to student literacy and teacher growth. She currently co-leads Mayfield’s schoolwide literacy initiative, working collaboratively to strengthen literacy practices across all content areas.
A highly successful AP English Language teacher, Jacquelin brings a deep knowledge of literacy instruction and a passion for helping students become confident, effective communicators. She also mentors new English teachers, providing guidance, collaboration, and support as they develop their instructional practice.
As a member of the Mayfield High School Leadership Council, Jacquelin plays an important role in shaping schoolwide initiatives and supporting a culture of continuous improvement. Her leadership, expertise, and commitment to both students and colleagues make her an integral part of the Mayfield High School community.
Thank you, Jacquelin, for helping students find their voice, teachers strengthen their craft, and for helping write the next chapter of success at Mayfield High School!

Food Distribution This Thursday!
Las Cruces Public Schools will host a food distribution this Thursday, Oct. 1, at 9:00 a.m. outside the LCPS Family Support Center, located at 505 S. Main St., Suite 249.
Food will be available to the first 75 families on a first-come, first-served basis.
Thank you to Roadrunner Food Bank, Federal Programs, and the Bilingual Family & Community Outreach team for making this possible!

While most schools are releasing students on schedule, please be advised that some bus routes may experience delays due to shelter-in-place orders at individual schools and difficult driving conditions reported by the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation is proud to support outstanding educators in the quest for excellence in our classrooms.
Through Teacher/Classroom Grants, the Foundation is encouraging educators to devise innovative and exciting educational programs for their students that enhance the learning environment and inspire students to achieve greater success.
Teachers, principals, school administrators, social workers, counselors, and ancillary staff can apply for grants (using the link below) that benefit individual classrooms, or their entire school community.
Grants range from $200 – $4,999 and fall under many categories such as Agriculture/Horticulture, the Arts, Literacy, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Student-centered technology and Educational Field Trips. In the fall of 2025, 11 Innovative Grants were awarded totaling $28,072.33. The deadline to apply is Oct. 2, 2026
