The Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation is proud to support outstanding educators in the quest for excellence in our classrooms.
Through Teacher/Classroom Grants, the Foundation is encouraging educators to devise innovative and exciting educational programs for their students that enhance the learning environment and inspire students to greater achievement and success. Teachers, principals, school administrators, social workers, counselors, ancillary staff can apply for grants (through an on-line portal) that benefit individual classrooms, or their entire school community. Grants range from $200 – $4,999. Grants fall under many categories such as Agriculture/Horticulture, the Arts, Literacy, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Student-centered technology and Educational Field Trips.
In the fall of 2023 Ten Innovative Grants were awarded totaling $35,424.32.
The LCPS Foundation proudly recognizes the recipients for the 2024 Innovative Classroom Teaching Grants:
•Hillrise Elementary was awarded $480.93 to fund their Zen Zone, adding comfortable seating to a recently created self-regulation area for students. This grant helps 450 students at Hillrise Elementary.
•Zia Middle School was awarded $4,750 to start up a culinary program, benefitting over 160 students.
•Tombaugh Elementary was awarded $3,000 for a STEM field trip to EL Paso to visit the La Nube Discovery Center in El Paso. This award helps open up opportunities for 87 students interested in STEM.
•Monte Vista Elementary was awarded $3,053 for mindfulness items to promote self-regulation to help impact more than 700 students.
•Hillrise Elementary was awarded $1,500 in grant funding to support the morning running club at the school.
•Conlee Elementary was granted $1,420 in grant funding for an initiative to help encourage students to to strive for perfect attendance at their school. The funding will help sponsor simple awards for students with good attendance.
•Lynn Community Middle School will receive $4,900 in grant funding to purchase 14 violins to help support their violin acquisition for their mariachi program.
•Mayfield High School will be awarded $3,819 to help purchase flight simulator hardware and software upgrades for their pilot training program.
•The LCPS Tell The Story Film Showcase was awarded $4,800 to fund materials to enhance the red carpet experience for young student filmmakers. This grant will benefit more than 400 students who compete in the LCPS Tell The Story Film Showcase.
Congratulations to Mr. David Morales, ENLACE/History teacher from Mayfield High School for earning the 2024 Golden Apple Excellence in Teaching Award.
The Golden Apple Foundation sets a goal to honor teachers from around the state who demonstrate classroom excellence, professional commitment, and a desire to elevate education in New Mexico by contributing to the golden apple academy.
Fellow educators nominate award winners, and then they go through a comprehensive application process with finalists from across the state.

NMSU will be screening the 2017 hit film Coco, the enchanting story of young musician Miguel and his extraordinary journey to the Land of the Dead, where he discovers the true meaning of family.

Today the Las Cruces Home Builders Association hosted the fifth annual Build My Future Skilled Trades Expo event at the Field of Dreams.
Hundreds of LCPS students in middle and high school attended the event to learn more about the skilled trades industry.
Local contractors and skilled trades industry partners joined forces to help answer questions and provide hand-on learning for many jobs in the construction industry.

Congratulations to Luke Linnan, our LCPS student athlete of the week from MHS. Luke is quarterback for the Trojans; he is 34/65 with 540 passing yards, 5 TD’s, 340 yards rushing & 4 TD’s. Coach says he’s a great leader who motivates those around him with a champion's attitude.
Hats off to Charlotte Dennis, our LCPS student athlete of the week from Mayfield High School. Charlotte is on the varsity cross country team with a 5k PR: 23:46. She participates in HOSA, STEM and theatre. Her coach says she is responsible, trustworthy, and has strong integrity.
